Likewise 4.1 Release Notes Mac OS X -------- If you are using Likewise Open, do not use the "Active Directory" entry of the "Directory Utility" dialog box. To join an Active Directory domain on OS X for Likewise Open, use the command line feature domainjoin-cli which is located in /opt/centeris/bin. Note that for the command line domain join utility, you will need root credentials. Because of a limitation with Active Directory, the local hostname cannot be more than 15 characters. To find the local hostname of a Mac, on the Apple menu , click System Preferences, and then click Sharing. Under the Computer Name box, click Edit. Your Mac's local hostname is displayed. Note: localhost is not a valid name on any platform. -------- The default template for home directories does not map correctly in Leopard. On clients running Leopard, edit the following line in /etc/samba/lwiauthd.conf: Change the "template homedir" setting to the following: template homedir = /Users/%D/%U -------- On Leopard, changing a domain user's password from the passwd utility will not work. This is a known issue. The password can be successfully changed from the System Preferences->Accounts dialog box->Change Password utility. -------- When you are logged in with a domain user, you will not be able to su to root. Instead, ssh into the root account. -------- If you're unable to log in using any domain user after reboot using a WiFi adapter, the workaround is to manually specify the DNS server for that wireless adapter. -------------------------------- Copyright Likewise Software 2008
