According to Gartner, Linux worldwide server operating system revenue is expected to reach more than $12 billion by 2011, and Windows server operating system revenue is expected to reach more than $22.5 billion in five years. With those numbers in mind, Gartner suggested that rather than organizations choosing one system over the other, the focus for the industry "will shift from islands of Linux to interoperability, management and open source."
